Digital Downs Eliminator Tournament Racing

The Eliminator tournament signals the start of every new racing season for unraced 2yo and 3yo horses. As well as 4yo's non winners of 2 races. The excitement of a new crop of foals trained up to run in the Eliminator, hopeful the potential shown in track works shows up come race day. Run against a pool of entries 50-200 horses deep. Survive each heat and advance to the Eliminator final. One horse will stand alone!

How to Enter
Eliminator tournaments are held every January, May and September for unraced 2yo, 3yo and 4yo+ horses. There are usually topics created in the Digital Downs Forum promoting the event. You will be able to enter your horses from the normal race entry calendar, look for the Eliminator race title. There is no limit to how many horses you may enter.
The Eliminator in More Detail
  • There will be a 2yo Eliminator, 3yo Eliminator for unraced horses and a 4yo Eliminator for 4yo and up maidens or non winners of 2.
  • Colt and fillies will run together.
  • 2 year old colts will carry 120 pounds, 2 year old fillies will carry 118 pounds, 3 year old colts will carry 121 pounds and 3 year old fillies will carry 119 pounds. $4yo+ colts will carry 124 pounds and mares will carry 122 pounds.
  • A total 2 year old pool of horses will be created from the entries into one race that is posted on the schedule.
  • When the 1st round race closes, the horses entered into the race will split evenly into instances of the same race. For example...100 entries would split into 13 separate 7-8 horse round 1 fields.
  • Stables with multiple entries will have their horses split evenly across each instance
  • Jockey Selection will be randomly determined in the first round only first by the 3 jockeys you have selected then by default.
  • There are usually 4-6 rounds of the Eliminator. A preliminary, quarterfinal, semifinal and final
  • The top 4 finishing horses in each 1st round race will advance to the second round (in this example of 100 total horses / 13 races of 7-8 horses)
  • The quaretrfinal round will include the 50 horses that advanced split into five - 10 horse fields. The top 4 finishing horses will advance to the semifinal
  • The semifinal round will be two - 10 horse fields and the top 5 finishinhg horses from each semifinal heat will advance to the Eliminator final
  • The Eliminator final will be one - 10 horse field
  • Jockey selection tie breaker from the quarterfinal to the final will be determined by earnings. If two horses have the same earnings and the same desired jockey Digital Downs will auto-random select the assignment of the jockey.
  • Throughout the entire tournament, horses from the same stable will be evenly split bewteen the instances until the final
